On Friday I managed to order my first pair of Mizuno soccer cleats. Currently you are a unable to purchase them in North America but with the help of the Internet can get them anywhere else in the world. This boot is the tier two boot of the Mizuno Neo line. The Neo is famous for being extremely lightweight (around 6.5 oz) while still being kangaroo leather. The Estrela (what I purchased) is below the Neo Morelia but is still 6.7 oz and leather. It is tough to say whether this shoe is half kangaroo leather and synthetic or natural leather and synthetic. The Estrela model like many other models is only available to those in Japan. This Japan exclusive has a soleplate made specifically for hard ground and artificial turf, which should be perfect for my indoor season.

I first got attracted to these shoes by watching Brazil's Hulk and my brother wearing them. I have had a craving for another lightweight boot and was deciding between the adidas adiZero F50, the upgraded Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII and these, so hopefully the Mizuno Estrela Neo is my fix. The Predator; From 1994 to 2012

The Adidas Predator has come a very long way since its introduction in 1994. With every new release, the Predator has advanced and the element has become less prominent yet more sophisticated.
The original Predator started out with a large bulky area of vulcanized rubber covering most of the upper, it had large wedges of the rubber on the main body of the element which stretched from the bottom of the laces almost to the tip of the toe! It also runs down the sides of the boot and around the heel almost completely encasing the upper in rubber. The tongue was like that of the Copa Mundial only with a pad of rubber on the tongue, with what looks like a pair of glaring eyes. I wouldn’t imagine that the rubber part had very good touch, however, the material used in the upper is kangaroo leather that has a crocodile skin look to it. There was no Powerspine or additional power element, the rubber itself was meant to increase control, power and swerve.
After the initial model, every predator preceding cut down on the size and bulk of the Predator element and making it better fit the foot. They also added power elements, whether it be a tungsten powder weight in the forefoot (Powerswerve) or the current Powerspine. But the purpose of the Predator has always remained the same, to increase power, control, and swerve on the ball. Lately the purpose has been leaning more toward increasing control over the ball.


The new Predator Lethal Zones is still geared toward the same purpose but in a more revolutionary way. Each of the zones has its own designation and is purposed toward a different goal. There is a dribble zone for quick touches, a kill zone where the ball is cushioned and controlled, a sweet spot where it creates speed in addition to spin, a drive zone for longer passes, and a pass zone on the instep. The power will still be there to a degree but what we are getting is a whole lot of control and ball manipulation. Isn’t that what every player wants out of a boot? A big change for the series will be that the upper will now be synthetic and there is no Powerspine (which always seemed gimmicky to me). All the extra elements are a welcomed addition in my book and I am looking forward to testing out the Absolion version of them when I get my hands on them.

ADIDAS PREDATOR LZ – VIVID YELLOW/WHITE/VIVID PINK

Adidas recently grabbed all the headlines when Spanish duo Fernando Torres and Juan Mata were spotted wearing the Predator LZ. They have yet to be officially confirmed as player assets but we wonder if we will soon be seeing them in this new Vivid Yellow/White/Vivid Pink colourway. Weighing just 225 grams, the LZ’s stand out feature is the five distinctive ‘lethal zones’ aimed at delivering greater ball control, touch, accuracy and power.

The ‘First Touch’ zone acts as a cushioning platform on the synthetic upper to give immediate ball contact. The inside vamp of the boot features the ‘Drive’ zone which follows the natural shape of the instep to create a rebound effect for greater distance and power. The ‘Sweet Spot’ zone on the medial side of the boot generates greater spin and pace. While the instep of the boots feature a ‘Pass’ zone with memory foam on the medial side of the boot to ensure consistency of passing. The ‘Dribble’ zone is a continuation of the SL rubber from the forefoot, to provide optimum grip on the ball for controlled dribbling.

A Sprintframe construction uses geometrical learnings and offers the perfect balance between lightweight and stability. Messi, David Beckham and Dinho have all had signature boots but the launch in recent years that have taken front row and gave boot nerds excitement is the release from Nike featuring the CR7 Series.

The previous CR7 launches have been outrageous when it comes to the color scheme but with this release footy fans are treated to a classic black boot combined with a modern blue/pink color scheme.  I am definitely a fan of the color scheme and with the color twist the boots are sure to pop on the pitch. At first glance, the boots simplicity and color scheme give me a OG look and feel which I crave as a boot nerd. In addition, Nike have changed the placement of the swoosh which is on the instep and outside of the boot rather than the toe box like the current Vapor 8.

As always, the CR7 and Mercurial series is all about speed and innovation and for sure style. Boot will fit exactly like the current Vapor 8 model but will feature the ACC technology combined with a Teijin microfiber leather finish. If you have a narrow foot the boot will over a snug foot and with the straight lacing and unique upper Nike’s goal is to provide players with the best lock down affect possible. However, many boot fans which have a medium to wide foot prefer something with the off center lacing.

In addition, many footy fans have been wondering about the infamous logo on the heal of the boot. The logo which I think kills the boot in a bad way is a heart overlaid with an X through it. Furthermore, the heart represents the love of winning while the X represents the hatred of losing. Either way it makes sense because as a footy fan you either love or hate the guy. However, I think the logo is super corny and would have loved if they simply put a CR7 logo on the heal or tongue of the boot.

Boots drop December 1st and because it is the CR7 edition the boots will cost $230.

Looking forward to see how Nike drops the launch of the boots. CR7 himself and Nike have already began to release images of the boot to promote the launch and buzz surrounding CR7’s next boot.

Liverpool - Akhir pekan ini, Liverpool akan melakoni derby merseyside melawan Everton. Di mata Brendan Rodgers, laga tersebut sama seperti laga-laga lainnya; ujian buat Liverpool.

Stadion Anfield, Minggu (5/5/2013) malam WIB akan kembali jadi arena pertarungan dua klub Merseyside dalam duel Liverpool dengan Everton. Di klasemen sementara, The Toffees ada di posisi enam dengan poin 59 sementara The Reds mengikuti di bawahnya dengan koleksi 54 angka.

Andai bisa memetik kemenangan, maka Everton dipastikan akan menyudahi musim dengan berada di atas Liverpool. Selisih delapan poin yang bakal tercipta tak akan bisa dikejar 'Si Merah' karena liga tinggal menyisakan dua pertandingan setelahnya.

"Everton adalah ujian buat kami," ujar Rodgers seperti dilansir Soccerway.
